Becoming a Man on Mission
Here's how to become a man on a mission…
By "mission," I mean an intentional plan for how you will bring glory to God through all He has given you.
It’s not as difficult as it sounds. I recommend focusing on where you are now and where you want to be at the end of your life. The middle part will come together as you take incremental steps toward the end goal.
Here are some simple steps to get you moving forward:
Ask yourself:
1. What will your name stand for at the end of your life (Proverbs 22:1)?
2. What will it mean to come from or be a part of your household (Proverbs 31)?
3. Now, how can you move toward that goal in a specific increment of time? Where do you want to be in one, three, and five years?
Write out 3-5 end goals (something achievable with difficulty) for the following areas:
• Spiritual
• Physical
• Financial
• Vocational
• Relational
• Self-Assessment:
Where am I right now? Be brutally honest.
• Spiritual
• Physical
• Financial
• Vocational
• Relational
Review these with a good friend. Ask him, “Is this a good self-assessment?” Adjust as needed.
What are 1-3 changes I need to make in each of these areas to get from where I am to where I want to be?
• Spiritual
• Physical
• Financial
• Vocational
• Relational
Remember...
1. A goal is something achievable with difficulty. Develop a plan using S.M.A.R.T. goals. Look it up.
2. A mediocre plan acted on is better than a perfect plan that remains theoretical. Don't think too hard. Save that energy for the execution.
