Thanks for the exhortation regarding the dead. It was not long ago that my wife and I buried our one eyed cat we affectionately called Jack. As we sorrowfully lowered him into the ground it struck me as my wife and I walked back to the house, “ it is weird that we bury our pets and burn our people” I spoke briefly to my wife openly regarding the matter as both her parents who were believers in Christ where Cremated. I told her I would not be as I believed it was not what we should do as followers of Christ. Perhaps, in a more telling conviction regarding this matter of death and burial I will briefly share another burial story. I long time friend of mine’s father died. I did not know his Dad very well but I knew he was a believer. I went to the graveside on a cold snowy winter day last year sometime. And as we were given an opportunity to say our good bye’s, my Pastor who did not know the man at all walked up to the coffin, took a knee, touch the coffin, and said see you later brother. I was deeply touched by his action and proceeded to do the same. Unexpectedly I began to tear up as I was reminded of the glorious resurrection of the dead! Oh, glorious day. Bury your people, you can burn your pets if you want. “All creation groans”

Thank you for this! We recently saw that it cost almost 30k in California just to bury and have funeral arrangements for my MIL. 5k to just dig the hole and another 5k just to lower the casket into it and fill. It definitely made us think about saving for our own funerals so the burden would not be put on one another or our children.

Thank you very much. I'm very grateful for this post! I've often wondered which is the right and best way to glorify God in how our bodies are handled after we are gone to be with the Lord. Thank you for shedding biblical light on this. We know that in the past, it was the tradition to be buried but what about now? Obviously, burial is a lot more expensive. As others have mentioned, it's basically never talked about in the pulpit or by pastors in blogs etc. Thank you very much once again.
