“God is wise and he is kind. He uses suffering to strip things down and show you what actually matters.” As my fighter pilot friends would say, “shack”.
That statement alone, so vital (and challenging) to properly understand.
It really does seem like the only way out of the game is not to play. I dropped Twitter over three years ago, losing touch with dozens of decent friends, but my mind and focus has been helped immeasurably. Have I lost my “voice”? Not with the people most important to me, and whom I should be influencing.
The work you have done and are doing has made, and is making a difference, brother. I am 1000 miles away and 15+ years older, and yet
God has used you greatly in my life over the past 5 years or so, since I first read "It's Good To Be A Man". Your writing on the church and building local communities around local churches has been formational in my thinking, and was influential as God worked in my heart to seek further training and ordination. 30 years ago that reach of influence was not possible. So while wisdom must be exercised as we consider how much time to invest in the online sphere, there is good that can be done. Thanks for doing some of that good.
Appreciate this very much!

Glad you took this turn, brother.
I was deeply convicted of this the other day while reading Philippians 4. I appreciate this post!

You are very kind. Thank you!
Great idea to purge those I am following that get me worked up, stressed, & just outright mad.
