I’m one of the assistant pastors of my church. The lead pastor, my father, has been bi-vocational since taking the pastorate. He works for the local community college as its president. Everything you’ve said, he can attest to over and over.
Do you happen to have a longer strategy document for East River Church that outlines your approach? I’m helping to lead a church plant right now, and I’d be interested in exploring your thoughts further.
Do you hope to be full-time on vocational ministry eventually, or do you see this model as the permanent model since you present so many upsides? I’m planting (or replanting) in the near future and considering how I’ll structure things for sustainability.

I chose bi-voc. It's what I want. I presented the upsides IF all those factors are aligned.
Very interesting. I haven’t considered this before but this makes a lot of sense. Thank you for taking the time to write!
